The name has changed but the same group of passionate and talented youth lacrosse coaches will be back on the fields of Durham Academy sharing their love of the game with the next generation of Durham and Orange County lacrosse players.
With the ever-changing landscape of youth sports and the continued growth of select and travel lacrosse, Durham Youth Lacrosse will stay focused on providing a safe and fun place to learn and grow your passion of playing in your community with your community! Our goal is to have a place for ALL players and we look forward to seeing you on the field.

PLL Juniors Durham Youth Lacrosse Philosophy
We will be using a teaching progression that reinforces the skills and concepts from week to week to include individual skill development using multiple drills and techniques with high repetitions to ensure players develop proper technique and practice habits. As the season progress’s we will continue to introduce new group and team concepts building toward team play. All practices will include some form of modified, fun, competitive team play that allows players to use learned skills in different settings. We will lay the foundation for the boys to continue working on skills in the off-season and help improve team play.
We will be unaffiliated with any travel lacrosse organization. We will be committed to removing barrier to entry, keeping cost for participating down all at the same time providing age and developmentally appropriate instruction to ensure your child learns and loves the game!

PLL Play will be key to the relationships we build in our teams’ home markets,” said Mike Rabil, co-founder and CEO of the Premier Lacrosse League. “Paul and I got our start in lacrosse playing for our town recreational team using our neighbor’s passed down equipment. Building high-quality, accessible youth lacrosse programming is core to our DNA and will fuel the next boom of lacrosse participation in the US. We can’t wait to get more sticks-in-hands alongside our partners nationwide.”
Longtime Rival Lacrosse youth director and Durham Academy head coach, Jon Lantzy and Durham Jordan Head Coach Justin Hewlings will direct the program along with help from longtime Durham youth lacrosse instructors that helped make the Durham Rival lacrosse program such a staple in the local lacrosse community.
